Teacher JJ Gormley
JJ Gormley has recently moved to Wake Forest and is pleased to be offering yoga to the community here. She has been a student of yoga since 1979, teaching yoga since 1984. She has studied from many of the world’s leading teachers including TKV Desikachar, John Friend, Rodney Yee, Erich Schiffmann, Richard Freeman, K.Patabhi Jois, Donna Farhi, Lilias Folan, Swami Satchidananda, and many others.
She has studied in many of the major yoga traditions including Integral Yoga, Kundalini, Iyengar, Anusara, Ashtanga, and Viniyoga. She has presented at annual yoga therapy conferences, taught yoga philosophy at the Smithsonian Institute’s Resident Associate Program, presented at the Yoga As Medicine conference, served on a panel for Yoga for Systemic Lupus at the National Institute for Health in Bethesda, MD, as served on the Peer Review Board for the Accreditation Committee of the International Association of Yoga Therapists, and is on the Advisory Board for Yoga Therapy Today magazine. She has been featured in numerous magazines and articles. Her teaching style is gentle and accepting, with attention to alignment and safety.
